Prudential BSN sales up 54pc

KUALA LUMPUR: Prudential BSN Takaful (PruBSN) the innovative and dynamic provider of shariah compliant financial solutions and protection today announced new business sales results for the first quarter 2011.

The company posted record sales of RM49.2million across all its business channels for the first quarter of 2011, up 54 per cent from the first quarter of 2010.

Encik Azim Mithani, Chief Executive Officer of PruBSN said, “What is really pleasing is that this is a broad based result with all of our channels – PAMB Agency, our Direct Agency and our Partnership Channel – performing very strongly and consistently.”

“I am confident that, with continued focus, we can maintain the strong performance through the year,” Encik Azim added, saying that the company is building on its performance in the first quarter of 2011 to reach its goal of being the number 1 Takaful operator in Malaysia.

This goal was met in the fourth quarter of 2010 when PruBSN beat out seven competitors in the local takaful industry to come out top by securing 33.5 per cent of the total Annual Contribution Equivalent (ACE) market share making it the number 1 Takaful operator in Malaysia in that quarter.

PruBSN’s regular contribution section also showed an even stronger market share of 42 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2010.

For the full year 2010, PruBSN’s market share stood at 23.3 per cent based on ACE, strengthening the company’s hold as the second largest takaful provider in Malaysia. – Bernama
